A lesson that stays with us

The patient is my teacher

These were the words of Prof. Rosalba Terranova-Cecchini, and with them we like to remember her, three years after her passing.
“The Prof,” as her students affectionately called her, was an absolute pioneer: the first transcultural psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Italy. In 1968, she founded the Transcultural Relations Group, introducing a new way of understanding mental health to our country—and later abroad.

In 1993, she established the Cecchini Foundation, and in 2001 she founded the School of Specialization in Transcultural Psychotherapy, the first of its kind in Italy—a place that still today represents a point of reference for those working in this field.

Her ideas, her method, and her example continue to inspire us every day.

We remember her this way: alive in her words, in her work, in the people she trained, and also in the 10 scholarships that we offer each year to those enrolling in the first year of our School.

A lesson that stays with us.
